Tonight was an obscure night to say the least. Kayla, Katelyn and I got together and went out to dinner, just us girls. After eating, having bad service and just sitting for about forty-five minutes past paying our bill, the subject of tattoos came up and we jumped out of our booth on a mission to find an open tattoo parlor at 9 o'clock on a Sunday night.
We hopped in Kayla's car and hauled ass down Western Boulevard in search of a place. We thought this was going to be an easy task considering we live in a Marine Corps town and it's a 96 weekend. We were more wrong than we were right. Everything was closed... wait, no, that isn't true. Wal-Mart, Waffle House and every barber shop in town was open, but of course. After about fifteen minutes of driving around town and almost just giving up, we finally found a place. We make a U-turn and scamper our way in, designer bags in hand and feeling a little out of place -- even though we all already have tattoos and I, myself have three and some body piercings to match.
I had been wanting to get another tattoo lately, something to represent my son. I hadn't put a whole lot of thought into it other than that I may want another star or set of stars, perhaps with his initials on the inside and some sort of fade. Typical, but it is so me and I could incorporate Sean into it. Kate and Kayla found what they wanted with some of their own touches added. I found a set of stars I liked and wanted to make some changes myself. After sitting there for two hours waiting to be next our extreme tattoo high and hyper activity died down quite a bit. Nonetheless, Kate and Kayla still went for theirs, but by the time theirs were done it was 3:00 am. As much as I wanted to get one it was just way too late and I missed my husband and son.
A night out with the girls having dinner somehow turned into a six hour bonding experience involving body ink. Pretty fucking awesome to say the least. I plan to get my tattoo next week possibly.
Oh, might I also add in that the tattoo artist pegged me for a geek and was right on the money... not much more to say. I won't forget this night for a long time.
